Food and Nutrition Conference Expo (Washington DC)

October 20-2, 2018

"Each fall, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsors the world’s largest meeting of food and nutrition experts — more than 10,000 registered dietitian nutritionists, nutrition science researchers, policy makers, health-care providers, and industry leaders attend the annual meeting — and address key issues affecting the health of all Americans." While at FNCE I had the opportunity to attend lectures on planning sustainable menus, nutrition in media, and cultural competence. I chose these talks in order to stay abreast the most recent nutrition communication outlets. The emphasis of evidence-based practice resounded throughout all the presentations. I was also made aware of the need to cross disciplines in nutrition in order to promote health and wellness via holistic measures. Blending disciplines look like chefs, environmentalists, marketing teams working with dietitians in order to craft sustainable menus-- promoting the everyday person to make healthy sustainable choices at each meal.
